California Department Of Public Health

Originally meant to be just an update of data on the original site, F11P pitched a visual refresh to bring life and freshness to an important campaign: Healthy Stores for a Healthy Community.

The campaign is a statewide collaboration between tobacco use prevention, nutrition and alcohol prevention partners. The goal is to improve the health of Californians through changes in community stores and to educate people how in-store product marketing influences consumption of unhealthy products.

This is a fancy way of saying that what you, your family, and friends see in local stores impacts the health of your community. With an enormous amount of data, this needed to be told in a story, not in just charts.

We developed a fully custom WordPress template along with building the custom plugin. By clicking on any county of California on the website the plugin auto generates the information for that county and is shareable through Facebook and Twitter or can be downloaded.

Smart downloads generated from the same data

From the data, easy to download pdfs of the data needed to be created for research purposes. The excel data is pulled by the site and input into a custom boiler plate design framework.

The results

With a refreshed and revamped look, custom infographics and icons, and updated data, this site is truly an original piece that came about through collaboration with our team, Tobacco Free CA and their partner Golin.

A motion graphic was also created to showcase the story designed in the same vein as the website.

On the technical side, our programmers not only created a stunning front-end experience from mobile to desktop, but they also automated the upload of years of statistical data through a simple CSV upload.

A MOTION GRAPHIC WAS CREATED TO ILLUSTRATE HOW UNHEALTHY PRODUCTS LEAD TO UNHEALTHY COMMUNITIES
