Clever With A Chance of Comedy

In a move to challenge the conventional definition of a weather forecast, the campaign's goal was to redefine what "the world's most downloaded weather app" could mean to consumers across all devices.

This was accomplished by creating compelling, shareable spots that quickly hooked viewers even when played without sound. Combining comedy and clever messaging, Flipeleven delivered a multi-spot ad campaign introducing viewers to the unconventional side of forecasting. After all, using The Weather Channel app to find the right weather is essential in planning the first-ever MudSponge Run, Car-B-Que, Golf Cart Polo, or in trying to Brave a Storm, four concepts explored in these hilarious ads. In producing the spots, Flipeleven combined old-fashioned creative ingenuity with a clever use of tools, special effects, and digital expertise to punctuate each of the scenes.

Flipeleven also re-cut footage from the full-length Weather Channel app spots to create shorter clips for use on social media and digital advertising. The spots were devised to play as pre-roll on sites, paid media in social channels, and still images and looping short clips in display/banner ads. The results were snackable, shareable spots that quickly hooked viewers in, even when played without sound.
